Although, I do understand the purpose of the distinction and the definition that gerontologists or demographers has put forward to simplify things in fields of education, research, etc. Language plays an important factor when communicating to or about the older adult population. It can either leave a positive impact on interpersonal relationships or a negative connotation that is attached with some type of stereotype or stigma.
